Integrating Your Site with a WordPress Theme
Last time I told you about themes and how great they were for branding, as well as being easy to get and install. But what if you already have a web site? Or you’ve already got some web pages up and you like using the program you created them in? In our case, we had already created a full web site when we installed WordPress, we didn’t want to lose all the work done on the other pages, and copying the content into WordPress pages just doesn’t match what can be done with a program like Dreamweaver. Add to that the problems inherent in the WordPress editor, we decided there was going to be two parts to the site: the static pages made from Dreamweaver, and the rest from WordPress.
Now all that is fine, but what about branding? You’ve got the design from Dreamweaver, and the design from the WordPress theme you installed. So, since we wanted to change the design of our web site anyway, we decided to integrate the WordPress theme into our static pages from Dreamweaver.
